Improve or maintain your oral hygiene
When attending a dental hygiene appointment, the hygienists will professionally clean your teeth by removing plaque and tartar (usually referred to as a ‘scale and polish’) and discuss a personalized care plan with you detailing how you can continue to improve or maintain your oral hygiene to aid the prevention of tooth decay, gum disease and inflammation.
Can I see the hygienist?
The hygienist works under the prescription of the dentist and therefore generally it will be your dentist who decides if and how often you should be referred to the dental hygienist. They will evaluate your oral health and make a decision accordingly.
